Data Matrix Scanner, the best tracking solution for small items

Data Matrix Scanner, the best tracking solution for small items

The use of Quick Response Codes, or QR Codes, is on the rise. You have probably seen them just about everywhere recently. Since Data Matrix code’s introduction in 1987, it has become the preferred tracking solution for handling small industrial items, as its ability to encode a large amount of data in a small amount of space.  The model DT-10 supports reading both Data Matrix code and QR code that makes it an ideal solution for small industrial items, such as electronic components or surgical instruments.

The possibility to engrave the Data Matrix barcode permanently is one of the most prominent benefits of this barcode-type. This procedure is referred to as Direct Part Marking (DPM) and can be applied using laser engraving or dot peen markers.

Must know features of the model DT-10

  • Plug & Play
  • Supports Data Matrix codes & QR code
  • Reading size from 2mm to 14mm
  • Focusing point 0mm~30mm (depending on barcode size)
  • Compact size and stylish design
  • Medical Use-UDI
  • Auto-sense

The advantages that the Data Matrix Barcode offer

  • With a size of 2.5 mm x 2.5 mm, the Data Matrix code is extremely small, yet it can store up to 3,116 coded alphanumeric characters. This makes it ideal for smaller items, such as spare parts of smartphones.
  • Format: In contrast to the well-known QR Code, a Data Matrix barcode can also have a rectangular design. This is particularly convenient when there is little space on the product.
  • DPM: Direct Part Marking can be used to permanently engrave a Data Matrix code so that components can be identified for decades.

Program the datamatrix reader to what you need

The DT-10 can be programmed with no difficulty or effort. NUMA provides rich configuration codes that fit for different user demands. User can simply scan the barcodes provided and configure the scanner as needed.

More Application

NUMA DT-10 is not only a Data Matrix scanner but also a DPM (direct part marking) barcode reader which is engineered to decode data matrix codes and QR Code on all surfaces such as anodized aluminum, stainless steel or chrome plated surfaces etc. It designs especially for small codes which are printed, laser engraving or etched.

For asset tracking, identification and data-driven applications, traditional Data Matrix Codes are generally the best choice. Though usually small in size, the Data Matrix Code can store large amounts of data for encoding, making them appropriate for a wide variety of applications.

The possible applications of a DPM barcode reader are as follows:

  • Aerospace: Spare parts and components
  • Automotive sector: Marking of car parts
  • Healthcare: Medical instruments, medication
  • Food Industry: Labeling of goods
  • Post: Digital post stamps

In the aerospace, automotive, and electronics industries, quality assurance is a very important aspect. Tracing back each component is a high priority to detect problems in production and prevent accidents.

In the healthcare industry, medication-related information such as the product identification code, serial number, expiration date, and batch number can be easily embedded in the Data Matrix code. This type of code allows the addition of more than one data field within a barcode to store different data sets.
